Love You Owl - Stamp Set

Love You Owl
This is my fourteenth owl illustration for Technique Tuesday.  His eyes are goofy.  I know. He's targeting you with his eyes for lloovvee. Ha!

I have two owls in the queue, one for March and one for April.  The March owl is holding a stuffed rabbit and he's a baby. Eek, I'm excited to share that one. I have a pen & ink drawing of the April owl idea on Instagram. That one is pretty normal but should be fun to color.

We made a bunch of projects last Tuesday with the new release. My friend Karen and I used this little cutie. There's a stamp set called You Aren't Normal that I think is perfect for all the things you REALLY want to say in a card! Karen used those sentiments on her card.

MAKING AN OWL

Made an owl for a school project with my niece!
This owl comes complete with eggs in the nest.
We had to trim all the feathers outside and it looked like a bird was killed on our lawn.
His big google eyes were so funny!
This owl was made with a Styrofoam ball carved a little bit for shape.  Then we added wire wings and tail.  Next we glue gunned tons of feathers.  We cut the feathers for more shape.  Finally google eyes and sponge beak complete the owl.  At first he the owls didn't look like it was going to be a good one but we hung in there and committed to the design.  Finally it looked good after the last feather trim.  I love owls!  Owls are my favorite.  On at least one of my new paintings I think I will add some owls.  New show coming up in April.  I need 30+ paintings for the gallery.  Whew, now I need to make sure to take pictures as I go for this darn blog!  :)

TREETASTIC

This is my favorite painting so far....

THIS is my favorite painting so far....I realize I need a new camera.  It's getting more and more tricky to get a crisp picture.

Love the owls!
Each new painting is my favorite painting for about 20min. after I'm finished. Then I just want to get rid of it.  I usually love the painting I'm working on but the feeling doesn't last long.  My sis loves her paintings forever.  She is sad to let them go and always feels like she needs to make two of everything so she can keep one for herself.  I'm an odd person.

I have an art reception coming up Friday 5-7 October 7th at Moonstruck Chocolate Cafe in Beaverton.  Very excited and nervous about that! I've never had my painting hang somewhere public.

Here is a better picture of the Owls 18!  I think that's what I will name this painting.
I don't know how these professional bloggers do it?  I don't have time to paint, take pics, upload, then blog about what I'm up too....everyday?  Wow, they sure are impressive to me. :)

BLUE DAYZ!

The renovations are almost complete. Monday should be the last day, I hope!

I've been playing around with a pencil called, "bottle of ink in a pencil", I love it! Unlike watercolor pencils the "ink" doesn't bleed as much. You have more control over the washes. Above are some drawings I did at Tommy's baseball practice. The flower on the left hand corner of the note book is a hand carved stamp. I carved 16 stamps for the Art Literacey volunteers. I just traced the stamp with the ink pencil. Below are close ups of some of the little drawings.

OWL BOOKMARKS

These little things are my bookmark submissions for the Owl Bookmark Swap on Swap Bot. I've been having fun with that site! I also discovered Atcs For All, another site I didn't know existed until the other day! So much fun!
