Giraffe Illustration

June the giraffe! I think she is a cousin or something of April. Remember pregnant April the giraffe? The projects this month are amazing! I think I'm going to try to make a project that uses some of the Animal House Animals on envelopes.

Watercoloring Delightful Daisies!

Yes, daisies are delightful!  Especially ones that are named Delightful Daisies. I did this quick video using a technique I've never played with before.  I heat embossed the stamped image with a sparkle black powder (hard to see the sparkle in the video) then I watercolored the image.  Interesting technique which allowed for quick coloring.  I didn't have to wait for paint to dry with the raised heat embossed lines. Also, I'm not a super good card maker so this was one of the cards that turned out ok!

Watercolor Background Tutorial Video

I made this quick tutorial video showing how to make quick watercolor backgrounds for handmade cards or projects. Bev, my boss, narrated the video. She has a great "radio" voice. I love her narrations.

I'm featuring Phyllis & Finn the Fish...the stamp set I illustrated last month. I did get to play around with watercolor background ideas after all!! See the Animal House animals if you like my illustrations.

Fishy Stamp Set Illustrations

Phyllis & Finn the fish handmade card by Jill Dewey Hawkins.
Meet Phyllis & Finn the fish!  This is the June Animal House release at Technique Tuesday. The watercolor background is inspiring.  I have so many visions of variations on this technique.  Can't wait to play.  Jill is one of the designers at Technique Tuesday.  I always love what she works her magic with my illustrations.

Here's the full stamp set.  Goofy sayings!  I had help with the words.  I'm working on a giraffe right now.  Pretty sure her name will be April The Girrafe.

Love You Owl - Stamp Set

Love You Owl
This is my fourteenth owl illustration for Technique Tuesday.  His eyes are goofy.  I know. He's targeting you with his eyes for lloovvee. Ha!

I have two owls in the queue, one for March and one for April.  The March owl is holding a stuffed rabbit and he's a baby. Eek, I'm excited to share that one. I have a pen & ink drawing of the April owl idea on Instagram. That one is pretty normal but should be fun to color.

We made a bunch of projects last Tuesday with the new release. My friend Karen and I used this little cutie. There's a stamp set called You Aren't Normal that I think is perfect for all the things you REALLY want to say in a card! Karen used those sentiments on her card.

Frederick & Fiona Fox - Fox Stamp Set

Frederick & Fiona Fox
Introducing my fox illustrations! I had a bunch of little fox sketches in my art book that were strong contenders for the stamp set but we finally settled on these two guys.

Technique Tuesday is offering Frederick and Fiona as a 4" x 6" stamp set! I'm feel lucky to be able to design for such a great company. Well, I'm lucky to be able to illustrate for a living!

Also, Frederick & Fiona have a super cute and clever little biography you can read here.

Planner Time

Planner Pages
Do you use a planner? Are you organized and task oriented? Do you love writing everything down? This planner craze might be just the thing for you! I love love journals and the looks of a fully decorated calendar but I'm afraid to start down the path of planner decor.  It looks very addicting.

My good friend Teri does planner decoration that is amazing. I love her graphic clean style, she illustrates planner stamps too. Above is one of Teri's creations.  We developed "foodie" stamps just recently that she used in her planner.

Easy Water Coloring Tutorial

Beautiful bluebell water colored card created by Birgit Edblom.  This handmade card is one of many in the Technique Tuesday idea gallery. Birgit has added tons of gorgeous works of art to the gallery.
I'm excited to share a link to my bluebell watercolor video.  I've been creating some tutorial videos for Technique Tuesday.  This video is probably the easiest of the the three.  I use watercolor crayons to add some color to the little bluebell stamp set. My Momma loves blue bells and she flipped when I gave her the finished card. Yay!

Illustrations and a Mouse

I've been busy working on this new release for Technique Tuesday!  We are launching cooking themed clear stamps and steel dies.  This is one of my favorite themes we've done so far.  Other than the music theme which I will share with you some other time.  Mouse Chef is one of my illustrations.  I released him awhile ago as a digital stamp but starting tomorrow he will be a real clear stamp sold in stores and on the Technique Tuesday web site. I'm so excited!

I'll share more designs and doodles that I'm working on in the next few days.  I have orders from the bosses to come up with a bunch of new little critters.

OH OH OH and there might be a new club or society offered soon....Hooray!
