This Painting was done for my BIL at Christmas time. It took about three days to complete. The original painting was this same red background and branch but a raven or crow sitting on the branch. My BIL's girlfriend told me ravens and crows are back luck in her Vietnamese culture so I had to rethink the animals. Mark (BIL) was born the year of the rat and Minh (BIL's girlfriend) loves dragonfly's. Rat Meets Dragonfly was achieved!
I think it turned out okay....a little more "cute" than I would have liked but most of my stuff turns out that way. Not edgy and odd which is what I try for. I guess I need to embrace the cuteness? :)
Painting is 3' X 4' acrylic on canvas

Yes, embrace the cuteness! I like it.
If you want to add a little edgy, give the rat a tattoo!
Tam that is gorgeous!
I think your artwork is beautiful!
You're an exceptional artist...
Hope you have a great day!

Nice work there
I love this painting, I love the dragonfly heaps (I paint them any chance I get) - lovely art :)
One rat meets one dragon fly... rat eats dragon fly, dragon fly lays eggs in rat, rat poops lots of dragon flies, dragon flies ATTACH RAT!!! Time for a change! :) hehehee
We all need a little cuteness these days! Besides, adding the rat gave it a bit of edgeiness I think and that sky is way out there! I think it's a great piece and your BIL is lucky! Best thoughts from the brush...doris
