OWL ON A BIRCH

I LOVE OWLS!

Is this a birch?  I think that's what kind of tree it is.....I SHOULD KNOW THIS!  After all I'm a self professed tree painter. Well, not a tree whisperer.  I just paint them.
My little set up.  This paper is some old cotton stuff that is actually awful to paint on.  Lots of bleeding and odd color soaking issues.
Yesterday I finished my friend Stacey's picture!  Hooray!  I will post pictures of it soon.  I need to get the pictures off the camera and on the computer.

We are also starting a house painting project.  UGH!  Not something I like and my poor husband hates house projects.  BUT he doesn't know he hates house projects.  He thinks he likes doing things around the house.  Until we get started and then it hits him, "I really hate doing house projects.  Why did we decide to do this ourselves?"   I think we should keep that fact a secret from him until we get started! I want to paint a mural on the side of the house....don't think that will fly.  Hmmmmm thinking of ideas.....

Yes, they are birch trees. We had five that all died from some disease they get but we had them a long time. Your owl is adorable!
I like the painting as a whole!
HPPF!

I too like owls!! My parrot brooch was almost an owl:) I think the mural is a great idea - why not trees and owls - with the odd surprise creature peeking through. I hope you post progress pics of it too.
Thank you for visiting:)

Those are definitely birch. I live up here in Seattle and they're quite popular. I love them and you paint them very well.

Love your birch trees. I always like painting them too, their slender trunks and silver bark are so beautiful.
The slightly inebriated looking owl really give the painting 'zing'.

My husband is a tree surgeon and I should know what kind of tree it is as everytime we go walking in woods he points to trees and tells me what they are (then quizzes me next time to see if I remember - I never do!) anyway, whatever it is, it's beautiful! I love the colour of the sky in this piece and owls are always adorable!
